Action for a Better Community, established in 1965, is a community action agency that encourages, supports, and develops self-sufficiency among low-income families in Monroe and Ontario counties in New York. The agency is governed by board of directors, comprised of one-third private-sector representatives, one-third public-sector representatives and one-third consumer-sector representatives. Its Head Start program provides low-income children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically.
