Founded in 1957, the Medical and Health Research Association of New York City is a nonprofit organization that works towards the health and well-being of residents. It was established with the participation of the New York City Department of Health and serves more than 200,000 low-income and high-risk people annually. It addresses various issues, such as children's and women's health, HIV/AIDS and population issues. It facilitates the development and operation of health services and provides technical assistance for community-based organizations. It also provides education and information to people about precautionary methods and cures of common diseases. The association undertakes a number of research programs and supports the creation, regranting and administration of health research projects. It is located in New York City.
