HistoryFredrick A. Valauri, MD, FACS began his practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery in 1987 after completing full residency training in general surgery, and in plastic surgery at NYU Bellevue Medical Center, and a fellowship in Microsurgery and Hand Surgery under Dr Harry J. Buncke in San Francisco with whom he authored the Atlas of Microsurgery, and several book chapters on thumb reconstruction with the great toe to thumb transfer, and other reconstructive techniques. Dr. Valauri was on faculty at NYU until 2002 where he served as an attending on the world famous replantation team at Bellevue Hospital, and taught cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
