Dr. Manish Parikh Appointed Chief of Cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Dr. Manish A. Parikh, an internationally regarded clinical interventional cardiologist and educator, has been recruited to serve as chief of cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Parikh has been a Castle-Connolly Best Doctor in NY for the past 20 years and returns to the Weill Cornell Medicine Facult where he will serve as assistant professor of medicine after over a decade at NYP-Columbia University Irving Medical Center."We are excited to have Dr. Parikh lead our Division of Cardiology,” said Robert Guimento, president of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. “Dr. Parikh is an outstanding leader who is dedicated to educating the next generation of physicians, providing the highest quality care to our patients, and increasing access to world-class cardiovascular care in our communities."Dr. Parikh will lead NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s Division of Cardiology, which offers treatment of a broad array of heart conditions, including complex coronary artery disease, structural and valvular heart disease, advanced heart failure and complex arrhythmias. Under Dr. Parikh’s leadership, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital will expand its offerings in complex coronary care and heart failure amongst other areas.For the past 10 years, Dr. Parikh has been an associate professor of medicine, the associate director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and director of business development at the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. There, he successfully developed and operationalized offices to provide high-quality cardiovascular consultative care throughout New York City’s communities in addition to contributing to the broader academic educational mission of teaching interventional cardiology techniques to fellows and physicians across the globe."I am thrilled to join NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital to provide best-in-class cardiovascular care to the Brooklyn community and beyond,” said Dr. Parikh. “NewYork-Presbyterian shares my commitment to education, clinical excellence, and genuine outreach within communities to make sure every patient receives the highest quality care. His research has focused on novel coronary stents, disruptive new imaging and physiology tools and atherectomy techniques, and robotic assisted stent placements.He has traveled around the world to train physicians on coronary intervention procedures. He is a Fellow of the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions, the American College of Cardiology, the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and many other organizations.Dr. Parikh received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He began his career at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 1990 where he completed his internship, fellowship and residency. He resides in Manhattan with his wife and two sons.
