The most popular beach in East Hampton Village, Main Beach on the Atlantic Ocean has the biggest parking lot of the five village beaches. Main Beach is also home to the annual fireworks, which have in recent years been pushed to Labor Day instead of July Fourth because of nesting piping plovers.
Main Beach also is the only beach with a pavilion, which offers beachgoers food and cool drinks, and has a few lockers that residents can rent. Main Beach is also one of the few beaches on the South Fork where you can pay per day to park, Monday through Friday, because beach stickers are usually necessary from Memorial Day through Sept. 15. Village beach parking stickers are limited.
Dogs and driving on the beach are not permitted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from the second Sunday in May through Sept. 30. A Town of East Hampton permit is required to drive on the beach.
