Incorporated in 1911, the village of Lynbrook now has a population of about 20,000. Lynbrook is run out of Village Hall, located at 1 Columbus Drive, where its building department, department of public works, police force and court are also stationed.
A mayor and four trustees make up the Lynbrook village board. Each position is a four-year term.
Lynbrook has its own television station, LYN-TV, which broadcasts board meetings and posts advisories and other important information about the village. Cablevision customers can see LYN-TV on channel 20. Verizon-FIOS customers can see it on channels 33 and 34.
In 2010, Lynbrook was named an All-America City finalist for its dedication to providing affordable housing, expanding its tax base and diversifying its workforce.
