Lower East Side Family Union, founded in 1974, assists immigrants with adjusting to the country. It is a preventative program, educating and advocating for families. Services include foster care prevention services, mental retardation referral, and advocacy and parent education. Its case workers speak English, Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin, and service the Elmhurst, Forest Hills, Flushing, Corona, Rego Park and Jackson Heights communities.
