Situated on 68 acres, Cornell University's Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center serves as a resource for farmers throughout the region. The staff leads classes for farmers during winter months, and answers questions and conducts studies during warmer months - all in the name of increasing yield and preserving the environment. Students studying particular fields are hired during summer months to help with studies, though degree programs are not offered at this site. Whether dealing with bug control or irrigation, potatoes or grapes, the LIHREC has been aiding farmers since 1922.
