Below is an excerpt from the owner's daughter: My grandma came here from China and started selling HK-style mini cakes in 1982. That's right, we were around before these new trendy food trucks became popular!! We're one of the 2 original egg waffle stands (the other one being the one on Mott st, no longer there) After my grandma suffered a heart-related issue in the early 2000s, my parents took over the business. I grew up eating these lil nuggets of heaven. This seemingly insignificant little cart helped put me and my brother through college. My parents resisted raising the price and adding new recipes for 20+ years, even as the cost of ingredients continued to rise, in fear of losing loyal customers. To my surprise, they FINALLY upgraded their menu to include new flavors! My parents were so proud and happy to show me their work! They took initiative and came up with something that helped them keep their customers of 20+ years and also stay relevant to the younger generation.
