Leadership Prep Charter School was founded in 2005 as a college preparatory school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school will add a grade each year as the students move up and it takes in new kindergartners. Leadership Prep is a part of the Uncommon Schools network of schools, which was featured in the May 2, 2010, Sunday New York Times as an example of successful "top-flight" charter schools. The school shares a campus on the first floor with M.S./H.S. 336, The Academy of Business and Community Development. Leadership Prep does not offer a consistent program of extracurricular activities, emphasizing, instead, a focus on academic rigor. The building's basement houses a city wide student suspension site, from 9:00am - 5:00pm. The school's principle is Sultana Noor-Muhammad.
