Operational since 1952, the Lakeland Central School District operates several elementary, middle and high schools, including Ben Franklin Elementary School, Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School and Lakeland Alternative High School. The district serves more than 6,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. It also offers pre-kindergarten and early childhood education programs. The district s schools provide a variety of sports activities, including softball, football, basketball, soccer, golf, volleyball, cross-country, hockey, wrestling and baseball. Its schools additionally offer a variety of stationery items, as well as a lunch menu for its students. The district provides classes in math, English, social studies and science, as well as special education programs for students with learning disabilities. In addition, it offers school counseling and reading recovery programs. The Lakeland Central School District is located in Shrub Oak, N.Y.
