History
La Roma Pastry Shop's owner, Aniello Zambrano, was born in Salerno, Italy in 1955. He discovered his love for baking at the young age of nine, when he began working for a local baker. His passion ignited, Aniello dreamed of owning a bakery of his own some day. Fast forward to 1975, when the determined young baker set off for America to make his dream a reality. In 1980, La Roma Pastry Shop was born on Flatlands Avenue in Canarsie, Brooklyn -- right in the heart of New York. A mere 5 years later, Aniello brought over his family from Italy to share in his success. Today, his 2 sons, Guerino and Riziero, have come to love the business as much as their father and feel so fortunate to be able to keep this tradition alive.
Specialties
There's no experience quite like being in a bakery in Italy -- the scent of pastries wafting from the ovens, the colors of cakes behind the cases, and the taste of traditional flavors. The Zambrano family brought that experience from Italy to New York in 1980, opening La Roma to share homemade gourmet Italian cakes
