History
Kids in the Game was started to provide New York City's youth opportunities through sports and fitness. Kids in the Game provides programs to schools throughout the day, as well as specialized sports programs including basketball, soccer, and track. In addition to school programs, Kids in the Game provides summer day camps and break camps to keep kids in the game all year long. Kids in the Game was founded by Michael Murphy, former NCAA Division I coach at Columbia University, as well as Matt Murphy, serial entrepreneur. Since 2012, they have been building and growing what is now Kids in the Game. The outcome? Running programs in dozens of communities around New York City for over 25,000 kids. Ultimately, Kids in the Game wants to play today to change tomorrow.
Specialties
Kids in the Game is a sports-based youth development organization offering school programs, summer camps, and sports programs to New York City's youth. We're providing a new perspective on sports culture that exceeds pure athletics, and introduces both creativity and character-building. Every year, Kids in the Game programs can be found in over 60 schools across New York City, where we offer recess, physical education, after-school, and enrichment programs, along with our signature sports teams and day camps. With Summer Camp locations in Riverdale, Inwood, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and Park Slope, we are rooted in the neighborhoods and schools that we work in. Last year we served over 25,000 NYC kids across all five boroughs. Our mission is to provide positive experiences and opportunities through sports and creative play. With a forward-focused vision of an empowered community, Kids in the Game is building the way with play.
