The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (JATC) offers programs for local residents to train, and enter a career in the electrical industry or take classes to enhance their skills. It offers five apprentice programs to prepare for distinctly different fields within the electrician industry: five-year Construction Inside Wireman Electrician and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship, four-year Telecommunication Trainee program and three-year Residential Electrician and three-year Service Technician trainee. All programs are comprised of two-parts, based on an "earn-as-you-learn" approach, with daytimes spent working on paid construction sites and night classes on electrical theory at the on-premise school. Those interested can apply on the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 10am - noon.
In addition, the committee offers a variety of classes to trained electricians to boost their skills and stay up-t0-date on compliance laws. A full schedule is posted on the Web site.
