Located in Brooklyn, N. Y., The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that was founded in 1973. It provides a range of social services to low income residents and communities. The council serves senior citizens, vocationally disadvantaged persons, refugees and educationally at-risk youths. The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island also offers technical assistance to nonprofit, community based organizations and helps to upgrade management capacity. In addition, it conducts free training programs for unemployed workers in the field of computerized project management. The council is funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community, NYC Department for the Aging, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, and Nathan and Louise Goldsmith Foundation.
