Founded in 1822, the Jewish Child Care Association of New York is a nonprofit agency that offers care services to more than 12,000 children and their families. It is a child and family service agency that serves abused and neglected children. The association s adoption program offers home studies, postplacement supervision, educational workshops, support groups, and counseling to couples, single parents, children and extended family members before, during and after adoptions. Its residential treatment program provides crisis stabilization, independent living skills training, vocational and job training, substance abuse, sexual abuse and domestic violence counseling, therapeutic recreation and medical services. The association is affiliated with United Way of New York City and the American Association of Children's Residential Centers. It is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children and is located in Bronx, N.Y.
