The Jewish Center of the Hamptons was founded in 1959 by a group of dedicated families on the East End of Long Island. The community now serves hundreds of member families, holding regular Shabbat eve and Shabbat morning services, family Shabbat on the Beach in the summer, High Holy Day services for over one thousand worshippers, festival services, a thriving Religious School and a day camp, Camp Karole.
The synagogue family is led by Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman and Cantor Debra Stein, each bringing their extensive knowledge, experience and Ruach HaKodesh in serving our community. The Jewish Center's extensive Life Long Learning classes and programs offer myriad opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Each summer, The Jewish Center offers its renowned Summer Institute, a series of scholars, speakers, concerts and programs to meet the religious, cultural and musical interests of our members and the greater community.
As a congregation dedicated to Tikkun HaOlam, during the cold winter months of November through March each year the JCOH partners with Maureen’s Haven in housing the homeless. It is also involved in several food pantries and soup kitchens on the East End. The Jewish Center is always looking for volunteers, food and clothing donations. Labeled brown grocery bags are in the Jewish Center foyer--you can fill them with non-perishable food and bring them back. The Center will distribute everything to food pantries and shelters throughout the East End.
