The Atlantic Records Group consists of the Atlantic, Bad Boy, Elektra and Lava Records labels. In 1947, Ahmet Ertegun and Herb Abramson started an independent jazz and rhythm and blues record label in New York City and named it Atlantic Records. The Atlantic label soon became recognized and revered throughout the world as it was distinguished by an array of legendary artists who broke new ground and set new musical standards.
