Holy Fathers Russian Orthodox Church of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, established in 1928, is a spiritual and cultural harbor for Orthodox Christians in New York City. The parish, faithful to the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia, provides a spiritual oasis for Russian immigrants and Orthodox believers, housing the first copy of the miraculous Icon of the Mother of God of Pochaev brought from Kiev.
Originally located on Fifth Avenue, the parish moved to its current stone church on West 153rd Street in the late 1930s. Under the leadership of dedicated pastors, funds were collected for the permanent site, and a rectory and school were established for Russian Orthodox children. Despite its modest size, Holy Fathers Church remains committed to the teachings of the Holy Orthodox Church and the canonical traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad.
