H eritage Candle and Home, is located in an historic, c. 1850 wooden merchant's building in the charming seaside community of Cold Spring Harbor. The Business District of our community is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also designated Historic and Scenic by the Department of Historic Preservation of New York State and by the Township of Huntington, Suffolk County. Since the late 17th century, this North Shore Long Island community has attracted shoppers and merchandise from all over the world. Once a busy whaling and shipbuilding port, our community has retained much of the charm of it's heritage -- and it's ideals of preservation gave our family an idea for a business. In 1967, Mr. & Mrs. William Reller set up shop and began serving the discerning shoppers of our community. The nineteenth century frame building needed a lot of care and rennovation, which was carefully undertaken over the next few years, according to the preservation standards of the Historic District. The restoration and expansion filled three full floors! As their reputation and their inventory grew and grew again, their shoppers began coming from neighboring towns and counties ; eventually attracting customers from all over the Northeast and even Europe and Asia! As you can see from the images, the inventory certainly did grow! Today, operated by the second generation of the same family ( and sometimes, still the first generation! ) we're the largest and most complete candle and candle accessory shop on Long Island. To better serve our customer's home decorating and accent needs, we have expanded our inventory to represent many unique lighting, garden and reproduction furniture manufacturers that meet our standards.
