Founded in 1822, the Town of Greece Police Department has a staff of more than 90 sworn officers and over 50 full- and part-time civilian employees. It serves more than 94,000 residents of Rochester, N.Y. The department operates road patrol, detective, warrant, fugitive and court divisions. It offers a range of forensic services and programs, such as drug, firearms and ammunition, and breath-alcohol analysis and identification programs. The Town of Greece Police Department also operates a central records division that provides criminal and accidental reports compiled by the sheriff s office. It operates various special units, such as crisis response, hazardous materials, emergency response, water patrol and mounted units. The Town of Greece Police Department operates an explosive ordnance disposal squad that identifies and disposes of improvised hazardous devices, explosive contraband, small arms and ammunitions and chemicals.
