The Division of Food Safety & Inspection manages jurisdiction over more than 28,000 food handling establishments. The division employs a staff of over 200 people. It inspects wholesale bakeries, retail food stores, beverage and fish processors, and food and refrigerated warehouses. The Division of Food Safety & Inspection also samples food products. The division organizes information seminars on food safety and labeling for the food industry. It offers investigation solutions for consumer complaints. In addition, the division licenses food operators. The Division of Food Safety & Inspection is a part of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, which is operated by New York State.
