History
Fledgling Writing Workshops aims to provide an inclusive environment for developing ideas and content to writers of all ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds. All prompts are designed with our three basic tenants of a healthy generative practice in mind: tenderness, playfulness, and resourcefulness. Having fallen in love with the no-pressure environment of generative writing workshops in high school, Sammi has chased that kind of supportive, constructive atmosphere in writing groups since and strives to offer it here in New York with Fledgling.
Specialties
End your day with a creative release! Fledgling offers courses online and in person for writers of all genres and levels. All Fledgling workshops include or are centered around in-class writing time. Some of our original course options include a focus on manuscript consultation, novel planning, poetics, and trauma writing. Unlike other workshops that require a finished manuscript when you walk in the door, Fledgling is for the writer who isn't sure what to write yet. Fledgling is for the tired 9-5er who lost track of her creative spark. Fledgling is for those afraid of being mocked by the blank page. Fledgling is for the writer who wants to expand his community. Our approach is spontaneous, kind, and unassuming.
