Founded 175 years ago, First United Methodist Church is today a congregation of the Reconciling Ministries Network, affirming all persons without regard to race, age, gender, sexual orientation, disabling or disadvantaging condition, economics or any of the other divisions separating God's family. We are a Covenant Church of Habitat for Humanity, a supporting member of Koinonia Campus Ministry, a Covenant to Care Church for persons with HIV/AIDS, and a founding church of Saturday's Bread. First United Methodist Church is a congregation of the Wyoming Annual Conference of United Methodist Church and its Oneonta District. We are covenanted by the Book of Discipline in what our founder, John Wesley, called "this blessed connection". To its provisions we subscribe, though we remain respectfully in disagreement with its provisions regarding the full acceptance of gay, lesbian, and transgendered persons, including its prohibition regarding same-sex unions and the ordination of gay persons. For more information about United Methodist Church, it's history, organization, ministries and leadership, please visit the Wyoming Conference website at www.wyomingconference.org. "United Methodism 101" is a CD-Rom guide to the United Methodist beliefs, theology and history. To order, contact EcuFilm at www.ecufilm.org or call ( 888 ) 346-3862.
