Educational Vision Services (EVS) is the largest education program in the world, providing specialized vision services to students who are blind and visually impaired in New York City. With a team of over 150 staff members, EVS offers orientation mobility services, evaluations, and parent training to approximately 900 students from preschool to 21 years of age.
EVS aims to support students with visual impairments in accessing the school curriculum and fostering independence in both educational and community settings. Through the guidance of the Expanded Core Curriculum, teachers of the visually impaired and orientation mobility teachers work closely with eligible vision students to ensure their full participation in mainstream schools and specialized programs, enabling them to integrate seamlessly with their non-visually impaired peers.
