Domenico Veneziano MD, PhD is a urologist in the Smith Institute for Urology at Northwell Health. He is the Director of Urology at Valley Stream LIJ hospital where he leads the Urology robotic surgery program. He is also an assistant professor of urology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He performs a wide array of surgical techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery for urologic cancers, minimally invasive surgery for enlarged prostates, and urinary stones.He completed his medical studies in Italy in 2005, where he also completed his residency in 2011. He performed his laparoscopic training at the Universit tsklinikum Halle, Germany and in 2012 he achieved the European Board Certification in Urology (FEBU). I always had an incredible passion for new technologies. My father is a urologist as well which inspired in me the need to build my first laparoscopic training system when I was a student. Since then I never stopped practicing and teaching minimally invasive surgical techniques .In 2014 he completed a fellowship at the University of Minnesota (USA) in simulation and education technologies with the accreditation of the American College of Surgeons, the first fellowship in the world exclusively dedicated to simulation in surgery. In 2019 he achieved a PhD in Simulation Technologies at the Universidade do Minho in Braga, Portugal. In the same year he was awarded for the best under 40 Italian scientific curriculum by the Italian Society of Urology.Dr. Veneziano is an internationally renowned key-opinion leader and pioneer in the field of surgical education and digital healthcare, with several novelties introduced in curriculum building, simulator design, and in the organization of hands-on training events, with over 75 invited lectures since 2014 and over 80 courses directed in 16 different countries. Between them, several training events in Asia and the first-ever standardized hands-on training surgical course in USA, with the endorsement of the American Urological Association. Domenico Veneziano is author of some of the most impactful scientific papers and book chapters in the field of surgical education and project-coordinator of the EST-s1 and EST-s2 curriculums, which were delivered as training/assessment tools for surgeons in 38 different countries.From 2014-2018 Dr. Veneziano was the Director of Hands on Training for the European Urological Residents Education Programme (EUREP), flagship educational program of the European School of Urology, and is currently leading the development of novel training curriculums on behalf of the European Association of Urology (EAU). He is also head of technical training / board member of the European School of Urology and holds 2 patents for surgical education technologies.Dr. Veneziano was editor of 2 books, both published in 2022, about the latest surgical technologies and their applications in Urology. According to him, Technology today helps to not only provide tailored solutions to our patients, but also to easily explain how we can solve their problems .
