Dr. Dolly Sharma is Board Certified Pediatrician in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Staten Island University Hospital. Prior to joining the pediatric department at SIUH, Dr. Sharma practiced at the Children s Hospital of Buffalo and the Children s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she gained extensive experience in managing a variety of inpatient and outpatient infections in children aged birth through 21 years of age. Dr. Sharma received her subspecialty clinical training in pediatric infectious diseases at Emory University in Atlanta, where she also collaborated as co-investigator on several research studies with colleagues at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her specific research expertise and interest has focused on the epidemiology and management of pneumococcal invasive disease in children. Dr. Sharma has served as the primary inpatient pediatric infectious disease provider at SIUH since 2014 and has treated a wide variety of infections including meningitis, Lyme disease, skin infections, diarrheal illnesses, complicated pneumonia, and bone and joint infections; in addition to managing the care of complex intensive care and immunocompromised patients. Dr. Sharma also currently evaluates children in the outpatient setting where she provides follow up care of patients she has treated in hospital, and also welcomes infectious disease referrals from private pediatricians and other providers of the Staten Island community. Infections treated in the outpatient setting include, but are not limited to, recurrent skin and soft tissue staph infections, perinatal HIV/Hepatitis B and C exposures, tick borne illnesses, periodic fever syndromes and traveler associated infections. Dr. Sharma strives to provide the most detailed and focused assessment and management for our pediatric patients in the Staten Island community.
