Trustees of Solomon's Lodge
The first Solomon's Lodge Organization was founded by British General, James Edward Oglethorpe, in Savannah, Georgia in 1734. It was also the first Masonic lodge to be established in the United States and considers itself to be the "Oldest Continuously Operating English Constituted Lodge of Freemasons in the Western Hemisphere". Despite its Southern roots, it now has a plethora of divisions throughout the country and provides weekly meetings, guest lecturers, educational activities and special events for its regular members. The members of Solomon's Lodge—nationwide—take an extreme level of pride in the long-held traditions of the organization. Its Masonic ritual has remained unchanged since the group's creation nearly 300 years ago.
