History
Due to a changing political and social environment in Germany, The Diehl family immigrated to the United States in the 1880's. A family of craftsmen, they founded Diehl & Sons Inc in 1889, which specialized in manufacturing horse drawn wagon bodies in Queens, New York. At the turn of the century, transportation needs shifted from horse drawn carriages to the emerging technology of trucks. The Diehl family adapted to this advancement in technology and began building truck bodies in 1904. In 1940, they transformed their operation to a full-service truck dealership and began selling and servicing vehicles. For 23 years, they operated a successful truck dealership and were ready to sell the business. In 1963, Bob Austin purchased the dealership from the original Diehl family members and took over as dealer principal.
