CWI, also known as Community, Work and Independence, is a nonprofit, community rehabilitation provider that offers a range of services for developmentally disabled and economically disadvantaged individuals. Established in 1963, it provides transportation, clinical, dental, housing assistance, self-advocacy and independent living skills training services. The agency administers day habilitation programs that focus on facilitative, academic and psychosocial aspects to improve the job readiness skills of senior citizens. CWI operates the Foothills Clinic, which offers speech, occupational and physical therapy; rehabilitation counseling; and psychiatric, psychological and nursing services for disabled and underprivileged individuals. It also conducts the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program that includes a variety of home care and support services. CWI is located in Glens Falls, N.Y.
