History
CMS is a nonprofit school that started as part of the settlement movement in Buffalo. Over 50,000 students have come through our doors since 1924, making us the region's longest-serving music school.
Specialties
Community Music School is a nonprofit organization committed to providing music programs to Western New York. Regents Certified, CMS offers quality music instruction for individuals of all ages & levels of ability regardless of aspirations or financial resources. The professional faculty & administrative staff believe that anyone who has genuine interest in music can benefit from study & deserves the opportunity to pursue it. We even have financial aid available for those who qualify. CMS offers private lessons in piano, voice & most other instruments. Children's classes are offered for students beginning at 6 months of age. CMS also offers various performing ensembles, giving musicians a chance to express themselves & advance their skills in a group setting. In addition to its main location in Buffalo's Elmwood village, CMS has satellite locations in Amherst/Snyder, Clarence Center, East Aurora, Lancaster & at Larkin Square.
