Fred Satin, owner of Com-Fit Shoes in Scarsdale, has been in the shoe business for over 35 years. His goal has always been to provide comfortable shoes at affordable prices. He opened County Shoes in 1986 in the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers. In 2008, he moved the renamed Com-Fit Shoes to a newly renovated location on E. Post Rd. in White Plains. On July 7, 2010, the store burned down in a fire that devastated seven businesses in downtown White Plains. In the days following the fire, Satin considered retiring from the shoe business, but calls from loyal customers throughout Westchester imploring him to reopen convinced him to look for a new location to service his clientele. Two months after the fire, in September 2010, Com-Fit Shoes was up and running at 455 Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale. The new location is conveniently located near the Hartsdale/Scarsdale Post Office and has plenty of free parking. Com-Fit Shoes specializes in hard-to-find sizes for women and men. Satin prides himself in offering his customers friendly, professional service backed by expert advice. They service customers with orthopedic problems (orthotics, diabetic footwear and socks) and they have trained professional salespeople who take the time to find the style, fit and price to appeal to every customer.
