Clean Communities of Central New York is a local coalition sponsored by the US Department of Energy (DOE) that promotes alternative fuels and vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction awareness. With a network of approximately 80 volunteer coalitions, Clean Communities strives to advance the nation's economic, environmental, and energy security by supporting local decisions to reduce petroleum consumption and contribute to oil independence, cleaner air quality, and combatting climate change.
For over 30 years, Clean Cities coalitions have been instrumental in facilitating change, saving billions of gallons of gasoline and eliminating millions of tons of emissions through projects using alternative fuels and fuel-efficient technologies. The Central New York Clean Cities Coalition, along with other coalitions across the country, leverages expertise from federal agencies, national laboratories, and other coalitions to develop solutions based on a unique understanding of local needs, opportunities, and markets.
