The Child Center of New York, formerly known as Queens Child Guidance Center, is a nonprofit organization that offers counseling services to children, adolescents and adults. It assists individuals with depression and behavior and substance abuse problems, as well as helps in adjusting to life in a new country. The Child Center of New York serves more than 12,000 children and teenagers annually. The center intervenes to protect children from abuse and neglect and safeguard families with children at imminent risk of psychiatric hospitalization. The Child Center of New York offers various tutoring, day care and after-school programs for children. It employs a team of psychologists, special education teachers, and speech and language pathologists, and physical and occupational therapists.
