Established in 1948, the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services provides educational and management solutions to schools and school districts throughout New York. It serves more than 100,000 students through over 180 elementary, middle and high schools. The cooperative offers alternative, occupational, adult, and career and technical education programs. It additionally provides general education development and English for Speakers of Other Languages programs through its schools. The cooperative offers special classes in merchandising, video production, carpentry, computer electronics, networking, cosmetology, and culinary and commercial arts. It also provides curriculum support, technology planning, data mentoring, educational assessment, library automation, program development and technical assistance services. The cooperative maintains presence in nearly 15 locations and has a staff of approximately 1,300 employees. The Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services maintains one of its locations in Elmsford, N.Y.
