Dr. Jonathan Oren is a board certified spine surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Oren attended Duke University for his undergraduate studies, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Oren has since been in New York City, attending NYU School of Medicine, during which time he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He completed his orthopedic residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, serving as executive chief resident during his final year. After his residency, Dr. Oren completed two years of fellowship spine training at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases both in Neurosurgery Spine and Orthopaedic Spine Surgery. During his training, Dr. Oren received numerous awards including selection as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopaedic Association.Dr. Oren focuses his clinical time to treating patients with all types of spine disorders. He treats a wide range of spine conditions including scoliosis (adult and pediatric), spinal deformity, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, radiculopathy and nerve deficits related to spinal conditions, instability of the spine, spinal tumors and degenerative disc disease. He performs many spine procedures including minimally invasive surgery, microdiscectomies, laminectomies, fusion of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, interbody fusions, and disc replacement. Dr. Oren always tries to find an individualized treatment plan for each patient that focuses on non-operative treatment for spinal conditions first, with surgery being a last resort.Dr. Oren is an active researcher of spinal surgery, with a special interest in spinal deformity. He has been the author or co-author of many articles in top peer reviewed orthopedic and neurosurgery spine journals, including Spine, Bone and Joint Journal, Journal of Neurosurgery Spine. Dr. Oren has contributed to over 40 presentations at national and international spine meetings such as the Scoliosis Research Society, the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS).
