History
The Canarsie Courier was founded by Walter S. Patrick and Lester J. Stillwell on April 22, 1921 and then reorganized by Walter S. Patrick in 1923. The Courier continued to be published by Edward M. Herrschaft from 1935 to 1959 when it was purchased by Bob Samitz and Joe Samitz. The Samitz family ran the paper until 1998 when it was sold to Donna Marra and Sandra Greco. Marra became the sole publisher in 2010.
