History
Originally founded in 1932 as Camp Kvutza in Accord, New York, Camp Na'aleh serves as the official Habonim Dror camp for the New York state and southern New England region. Up until 1984 it resided in lovely Elizaville, in the Dutchess County region in New York. In 1997, Camp Na'aleh reopened in rented facilities in Holmes, New York, relocating three years later to Shohola, Pennsylvania (near Port Jervis, New York). Starting summer 2008, Camp Na'aleh will move to its new, fully-owned site near Sidney, New York.
Specialties
Camp Na'aleh is a welcoming summer camp community that fosters a strong connection to Israel, Jewish values and social justice. Using our model of youth leading youth, we empower our campers and staff to be leaders in their larger Jewish communities. Beautiful Camp Na'aleh is located just north of Sidney, New York, near Binghamton, and is one of seven Habonim Dror camps in North America. It introduces the ideals of the kibbutz in Israel and progressive Judaism to campers through its emphasis on sharing, love of nature, and community building. It is a place where campers work, play, sing, laugh, share, and grow together, and where everyone is respected for his or her own unique traits and abilities. The friendships and memories they make at Na'aleh are ones that last forever. Camp Na'aleh serves campers ages 8 to 15, grades 4 to 10.
