Camp Chingachgook is destination spot for families, school groups, children's summer camp, conferences and retreats and sailing programs. Chingachgook sits on the east shore of Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The 200 acres of YMCA property is surrounded by thousands of acres of forever wild state forest preserve with a trail network of more than 50 miles through wetlands, along the lake shore, through woodlands and over mountain summits. The YMCA has recently invested more than $3 million for facility improvements resulting in more than 60 buildings, including a new dining hall, program lodge, hike center, waterfront pavilion and 20 cabins. A variety of waterfront activities takes place on Chingachgook's waterfront, which features two 80-foot docks and a fleet of approximately 75 canoes, kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, sailboards and motor boats. In the winter, the frozen lake opens for ice skating, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. Other recreational facilities include tennis courts, basketball courts, climbing tower, archery and rifle ranges, volleyball courts and playing fields for softball and soccer.
