History
The Butler Center for Educational Advancement has been a staple of the Marks JCH of Bensonhurst since 1998 but Marks JCH has been providing the Bensonhurst and surrounding community a range of services since 1927. It is the mission of the Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst to be an integral partner in the delivery of community-based, accessible social services that meet the current and emergent needs of our constituents. For the last 86 years, we are proud to have provided meaningful, enjoyable programs and services for families and individuals in all stages of life. Over four million people have benefited from our full array of mission-driven programs and community-based services, including: English for Speakers of Other Languages courses, job training and placement, document translation, immigration and citizenship seminars, childcare programs, as well as educational, cultural and recreational activities.
Specialties
The Butler Center for Educational Advancement at Marks JCH of Bensonhurst is tailored to provide a variety of educational services to help all members of the community. We welcome walk-ins and provide free educational counseling and advocacy to all students and parents. The Butler Center also provides free monthly workshops to help students prepare for state examinations, junior high school and high school entrance exams, high school and college application process, financial aid needs, and mental-wellness workshops. At an additional cost, the Butler Center also provides individualized tutoring for Kindergarten through 12th grade and examination preparation.
