Housed in one of the earliest hotel buildings still standing in the country, the building itself dates from 1792 and has been amongst other things, a hotel, a boys school, a private house, apartments, a sanatorium, and now houses Brookside Museum, the home of Saratoga County History Center. Extensive improvements have been made since 2020, and the centerpiece is now a 3 room exhibit on the story of Saratoga County. A further exhibit describes the history of the building and its place in the development of Ballston Spa. Other exhibits are displayed on a revolving basis. The museum also hosts several events a year, and has a research library for local genealogical research. There is a small gift shop selling a wide selection of books of local interest, as well as gifts. From Thanksgiving until Christmas, the museum hosts the Artisan Market, including a wide variety of merchandise for sale by local artisans and craftspeople. Attached is a well cared for garden.
