The idea for Bright Beginnings Pre-School Learning Center was conceived and opened in September 1983. After running as a successful summer camp program for pre-school children for many years, in 1987, the school received its license from the New York State Department of Social Services to operate as a day care.
There are three main locations: a full-day care program in Yorktown; a toddler morning program in Amawalk; and a morning nursery school program in Granite Springs. The full-day program is located at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center. The Co-Executive Directors are Mara S. Ziedins and Evelyn J. Mocbeichel, who own and administer the school.
Bright Beginnings is open 25-30 days more per year, than most other pre-school programs, which gives students more education and socialization time.
Bright Beginnings also offers 'Early Bird' and 'Late Bird' programs, that take place before and after regular hours, for those children in need of extended care. Arrangements are part of the tuition agreements and are made at the time of enrollment.
