History
In 1927 Samuel Brenman opened his meat market in the neighborhood of Gerritsen Beach in South Brooklyn. He insisted on using only the finest cuts of hand-selected meat, a tradition that carries on to this day. Butcher Hymie Basile took over the market as business grew and Brenman neared retirement. In 1965 the market came into the ownership of The Izzo Family. Butcher Eddie Izzo created our famous Butter Steak, a specially marinated cut of beef named by customers for its mouthwatering flavor and tender consistency. Current owner/manager Glenn Izzo bought the business from his father in 1987. The market underwent a complete renovation in 2008, doubling in size to better serve the growing needs of our customers. For over 80 years, Brenman's Meat Market has consistently provided the utmost personal service and the finest quality product.
