HistoryDr. Williams attended college at Yale University and medical school at Stanford University and completed both his Orthopedic Surgery training and Sports Medicine Fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. A well-respected researcher in the global orthopedic community, Dr. Williams has published over 150 original peer-reviewed research papers, book chapters and reviews. As a clinician and educator, he has been invited for dozens of visiting professorships and grand rounds lectures the world over. Dr. Williams grew up in Los Angeles, California. After Dr. Williams earned his Medical Degree from Stanford University, he began his early research into cartilage metabolism at the Orthopedic Research Laboratory. He interned in General Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital (USC) in Pasadena, California. Dr. Williams then headed East to the Hospital for Special Surgery where he did both his residency and fellowship training in Orthopedic Surgery, and Sports Medicine.SpecialtiesDr. Riley J. He is located at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York. Dr. Williams is the Knee Group Leader of the Sports Medicine & Shoulder Service at HSS. Full-time member of the Sports Medicine & Shoulder Service Clinician-Scientist in the Research Division. He is also a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.
