The Highway Division works under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works. One of its responsibilities is maintaining the town's 132 miles of roads, which include 32 miles of dirt roads.
The highway department's 25 employees plow snow, repair roads, keep drains clear and maintain commuter parking lots and bridges throughout Bedford. They also pick up leaves from properties of one acre or less, as well as dispose of discarded Christmas trees in January and early February. The Christmas trees are turned into mulch that is later used in town parks and office buildings.
The head of the Highway Division is Andy Rosafort.
