Located on the second floor of the Nassau County Bar Association building at the corner of Fifteenth and West Streets, this organization provides court-assigned attorneys in criminal-related cases.
The Assigned Counsel Defender Plan is now in its 45th year of providing legal representation to certain indigent defendants in Nassau County. The program is presently administered through the Nassau County Attorney's Office.
In July 1965, New York State County Law was approved and required the individual counties throughout the State to provide counsel, investigative services and other services to indigent persons accused of crimes.
