Asharoken Village is an isthmus located between Northport Village and Eaton's Neck, and part of the Town of Huntington. Around the turn of the 20th century, William Codling, a Northport lawyer, began to market a development he called Asharoken Beach. By 1915, Asharoken Beach had developed into a summer resort for upperclass families. In 1925, in order to increase control over its roads and beaches, Asharoken property owners formed an incorporated village. Today, Asharoken has its own Board of Trustees comprised of a mayor and four other members, as well as a police department and a municipal court.
