The Arab-American Family Support Center, also known as AAFSC, is one of the first social agencies in New York serving the minority Arab community. Established in 1994, the center is nonsectarian and is staffed by Arabic-speaking professionals of all faiths. AAFSC provides counseling and family support services, legal and immigration services, youth and education programs and English language classes. It also offers a range of auxiliary services, including information and referral services, advocacy, translation and interpretation. AAFSC s clients include a high concentration of families from Yemen, Egypt, Palestine and Morocco. The center collaborates with various youth organizations and area schools, and organizes youth conferences, youth clubs, multicultural clubs, and youth leadership activities and events. AAFSC has its headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y.
