The Amvets Memorial Post 88 is the Massapequa chapter of the American Veterans service organization. The organization enlists caring volunteers to perform numerous services for veterans of United States wars and the community at large. Post 88, which had 573 members as of June 2010, also has a Color Guard for special events. The Amvets organization can trace its roots all the way back to 1944, near the end of World War II, and ever since it has been an important ally in helping veterans file compensation claims with the federal government. For more information about the many services offered, visit Post 88's official Web site.
