The Alden State Bank opened for business on October 5, 1916, in rented quarters. It was opened as the result of several local people who felt it was time to establish a financial institution that would meet the needs of a growing Alden, N.Y., community. At this time, commerce was surging forward largely due to business generated by the Black Water Baths. The bank offers checking accounts, savings accounts, individual retirement accounts, loans, mortgages, certificates of deposits and telephone banking services. Headquartered in Alden, Alden State Bank also has a location in Lancaster, N.Y.
